Winter Care Services

Keep your pool sparkling over the winter months so it is in perfect condition for the summer. Don’t forget about your pool during the colder weather, or you won’t be ready to swim when it warms up again.

Taking care of your pool during the winter months, when it's not in use, is just as important as during the summer. Proper winter maintenance ensures that your pool will be ready for swimming when the warmer weather returns.

We offer a comprehensive Winter Care Package to help you maintain your pool throughout the colder months. Our service is divided into three key stages:

Stage 1: Pool Close Down

Once you've decided to finish using your pool for the swimming season, we will visit to prepare it for winter. This includes dosing your pool with the necessary chemicals to prevent it from turning green over the winter months. We will turn off the heating and make adjustments to the equipment for winter conditions. Please note that after this process, your pool will no longer be safe to use until it is reopened in the summer.

Stage 2: Mid-Winter Check

During the winter, when swimming is far from your mind, we will carry out a visit to ensure everything is still functioning correctly. We will also adjust the chemical levels if they are out of balance.

Stage 3: Summer Pool Reopening

Approximately 3-4 weeks before you plan to start swimming again, we will visit to reopen your pool. This involves removing any leaves and debris that have accumulated over the winter, adding chemicals to start the process of cleaning the pool, and turning on all the equipment to ensure it is working properly. We will set your pool heater to 30°C (unless you request a different temperature).

A few weeks later, we will return for a final visit to clean the pool, balance the chemicals, and ensure the water is warm. At this point, we will hand the pool back over to you for regular maintenance and swimming.

Your Responsibilities

During this period, please ensure that the water level is correct. If you hear any unusual noise coming from the pool, let us know immediately. We also recommend performing a backwash every month. 

Fixed Price Service

We offer a fixed price for this service on Compass Ceramic Pools and EVi Pools. This includes a complimentary chemical package with the essential items needed to maintain the pool over the winter. Additional chemicals, if required, will be charged separately.

What's Not Covered

If your pool has drainage issues, a patio that slopes towards the pool, or if your garden floods, causing mud and dirt to enter the pool, additional labour charges will apply. These issues can also delay the pool reopening process.

Booking and Important Dates

When booking our Winter Care Package, we will ask for the last date you plan to swim. Our first visit will be scheduled shortly after your last swim. We also need to know the date you intend to start swimming the following year. Early booking increases the likelihood that your pool will be ready by your preferred swim date. Please note that reopening dates fill up quickly, so booking well in advance is recommended.

Optional Services

In addition to the Winter Care Package, we offer optional services to ensure your pool is in perfect condition for the next season. These services must be booked at the same time as your Winter Care Package and may not be applicable to all pools.

Slatted Clean Cover

We will clean your slatted cover to remove limescale and dirt.

UV Bulb Replacement

We will replace the UV bulb in your plant room.

Auto Dosing Service

We will replace the wearable parts in your auto-dosing system and calibrate it.

Media Change

The media in your filter should be changed every 3-4 years, depending on usage.
